Welcome to Understanding ADHD in Adults, a Guide for the Primary Care Provider.

In this 26 minute webcast Dr. Russell Barkley provides an overview of ADHD in adults. This is a good place to start to get a good understanding of the characteristics, etiology, epidemiology, and pathophysiology of ADHD in adults along with how this disorder affects the lives of adults.

Learning Objectives
After completing this module participants will be able to:

  1. Review the diagnostic criteria for ADHD and the modifications that may be needed to extend their use up to the adult age range.
  2. Review the neurological and genetic factors that contribute to ADHD.
  3. List the psychiatric disorders that are commonly comorbid with adult ADHD
  4. Discuss impairments in major life activities that are associated with the disorder in adults.
  5. Discuss some of the research on executive functioning deficits that have been found to be typically associated with adults with ADHD.
